Bill Gates and Warren Buffett Discuss "Creative Capitalism"


This is the transcript of a discussion between Bill Gates and Warren Buffett about Bill’s concept of “creative capitalism.” The discussion, over lunch at the Gates residence in Medina, Washington, took place on May 15, 2008. Also at the table were Melinda Gates, Josh Daniel of the Gates Foundation, and me [Michael Kinsley]. I started by asking Warren what he thought of the whole idea. As you can see, he didn’t fall for that one.
